Shelter from the Elements:

The Sarnoff Levin Residence

Perhaps it is the biggest fear of all—to be caught in a downward spiral that leaves you without a place to live. Where would you go? How would you get back on your feet?

The ARK's Sarnoff Levin Residence opened in November 2000 to provide housing, food, and supportive services for homeless families and individuals. It offers a maximum stay of 120 days for those needing short-term shelter or a relatively short time for stabilization.

The Residence is in a safe neighborhood, close to public transportation, stores, schools and, of course, The ARK. Guest bedrooms are small, encouraging residents to socialize in the living room, to attend classes and to look for jobs and permanent housing. Daily meals and special holiday celebrations are experienced together as a family. The Residence is handicapped accessible, and strives to be a normal home setting in every way possible.

Case managers meet with each guest regularly to assess progress and offer encouragement. All ARK services are available to help our guests, while the Residence's warm, loving atmosphere serves as a workable base from which our guests can regain control over their lives in privacy and with dignity.
